Interviewing James Denton
The most famous guest
present at the Colonnade
Grand Opening event was
the
Golden Globe Award
winner for Desperate
Housewives
, actor James
Denton.  He  most recently
hosted the Miss America
America Pageant for 2006.
He kindly accepted our
invitation for an exclusive
interview for the Brazilian
community in South Florida.
NS: How do you feel about coming as a celebrity guest to this event here in South Florida?
JD: It was nice of you to ask. I have family here in Florida, on the Gulf side, in Fort Myers,
so I spend a lot of time here anyway. But, the Junior Leagues of Boca, Miami and Fort
Lauderdale are very good organizations stressing volunteerism and very good charities,
that I support, and also I thought the audience they are after for the shopping center sort
of makes sense with the Desperate Housewives audience, so it seems like a good fit.

NS:  Are you much into fashion?
JD: (laugh)
NS: Because as everybody can see, you already have a very nice style, I would say.
JD: (laugh) I don't think much about it. Everything in my closet is denim, or has pearly
snaps. I grew up in Tennessee, what's not exactly the fashion capital of the country, very
rural, somebody would say redneck, a little bit country. I am not big on fashion. I am trying
to learn a little bit, but I am not certainly an expert.

NS: More important than to be in fashion is to have your own style, like you do...
JD: I think that's probably true, but it is funny. It's sort of those things that's new to me
about having a job like this, it's having to be aware of what to wear to events, and red
carpets, and things like that.

NS: When you have to attend a red carpet event, who would help you giving the right
advice?
JD: I've got to fly back tonight because I have the Oscars tomorrow night. Basically, I put
on my clothes, I get to the door, and my wife stops me, and she will tell me what I am really
wearing and I go change. But it's weird, because with this job people will give you clothes,
so I have some separates DKNY, Kenneth Cole and Armani, they just show up at the
house. Then you try them on, decide which one to wear, and send the rest of them back,
so people give you clothes, what is very strange.

NS: Do you feel comfortable when you need to be dressed up?
JD: Yeah, I had a job for years, a suit and tie job. I started as a salesman, so I wore suits
for my job, so it seems like I never have done it, but I wouldn't choose to, if I don't have to.

NS: What would you like to say to the Brazilian community in South Florida?
JD: Just thanks for watching. We are really happy that they responded to the show. The
show has crossed cultural lines, and we are over than two hundred countries now, so
that's very flattering that even people that speak other languages have responded to the
show. We are just thankful, and we appreciate it.

It was a pleasure to get to know such an actor that is still laid back and devoted to
charity.
James is very much involved in such noble causes. He has participated in charity
events helping a variety of entities, and has given special support to rescue stray animals.
He encourages everybody to get involved in the cause that touches your heart the most.

Finally, talking about James looks, that is very interesting too. His personal style is a
country casual effortlessly sexy. He exudes a very masculine beauty. His personality is
authentic and captivated me... Better saying, the whole package (inside and out)
captivated all the audience.
